Welcome to Shoeburyness Model Railway Club.

May we extend a warm welcome to our club, based in Shoeburyness, Essex.

So you have found our website, that must mean one thing, you are interested in model railways, so a great start so far. Let's start by telling you a little about the club, The club was formed back in the 70's by a small group of British Railway employees, starting life in clubrooms owned by BR on shoeburyness station, as the years progressed and its existence became more widely known, more people wanted to join, BR eventually agreed and the membership grew, many years later with privatization looming and unfriendly rumors being heard, the committee started to plan ahead and looked for a possible new home, we found some land, promptly brought it and set about building our own clubhouse, still located in Shoeburyness, two floors with a stair lift for the less able bodied, which was just in time as well, the private company did indeed decide to redevelop what were our clubrooms, pheww that was close !

Our aim is to promote model railways and its associated hobbies as a valuable and fulfilling pastime, whatever the scale or gauge you might be interested in, you are bound to find someone who has a similar interest, be you an expert or a novice, you are sure to find much of interest, maybe inspiring you to join in or even teach others new ideas.

We have taken great care in constructing our website to make your visit a pleasant experience and we hope will answer some basic questions. We do hope it provides just a little inspiration to join us. You are assured of a warm welcome at our club, so if you have an interest in model railways we invite you to join us, your comments and questions on any aspect of the club are always welcomed and we will be pleased to discuss membership options at any time.
