Each year we hold a in-house modelling competition, this is normally held on the same night as our pre-show briefing, there are five classes of competition. Classes of competition |

Class
A - Motive Power - Chairman's
Cup
This
class covers locomotives of all types, powered multiple units and
railcars whose primary character is of carriage, wagon or other rolling
stock. |

Class
B - Rolling Stock - Treasurer's Cup
This
class covers non-powered stock of all kinds. |

Class C - Lineside - Secretaries Cup
This
class covers all static models or items associated with model railways,
for example buildings, signalling equipment, trackwork, road vehicles,
scenic items etc. |

Class
D -
Photography - Photographic Cup This class covers photographs and transparencies of full size or of model railways or associated subjects. Enlargements shall NOT exceed a nominal size of (10) ten by (8) eight inches. One photograph shall form each entry. |
| Class E -
Novice - Novice Cup This class covers all forms of modelling including those covered in the other classes. Any model in any scale, being rail, road, sea or air, kit built, scratch built, modified kit based or any combination of these. This class is open to all members not having won in a class of the competition before. |
| Adjudication The competition entries shall be judged by an independently appointed judge, the appointed judge or judges shall not have been members of the Shoeburyness Model Railway Club at any time. The judges shall be appointed by the competition organizer and the Club Chairman or Vice-Chairman. Competition entries shall NOT be judged by the members of the Club, in the event of a tie then the casting vote shall be held by the Hon. Chairman (or in his/her absence the Hon. Vice Chairman). |
